undelete

Reverse digital erasure

Undelete is a computing term for restoring a file or data that was previously deleted.

When you delete something on a computer, it often isn't immediately destroyed but rather marked as available space, making recovery possible.

To undelete is to reverse this process and bring the file back.

I was able to undelete the photos I accidentally trashed.

The term extends to any digital context where removed content can be restored, such as emails or messages.
