chador

Head-to-toe wrap

A chador is a large cloth worn by some Muslim women, covering the head and body and leaving only the face exposed.

It is held closed at the front by the wearer's hands or tucked under the arms.

The garment is most associated with Iran, where it became mandatory after the 1979 revolution: She wrapped herself in a black chador before leaving the house.
