snap-shot

Casual camera capture

A snap-shot is a quick, informal photograph taken without elaborate setup or posing—a moment captured spontaneously: I got a snap-shot of the kids playing.

The hyphenated form is older; snapshot (one word) now predominates.

In sports, a snap-shot is a quickly released shot, especially in hockey or soccer, taken without winding up.
