skimboarders

Beach wave riders

Skimboarders are people who ride skimboards—thin, finless boards used to glide across shallow water on beaches.

Unlike surfers who paddle out to catch waves, skimboarders start on sand, run toward the water, drop their board, and skim across the wet surface to meet incoming waves: The skimboarders waited for the tide to recede.
