sidesaddle
Skirt-friendly riding position
Sidesaddle describes a way of riding a horse with both legs on one side of the animal rather than straddling it.
The position was traditionally required of women wearing skirts or dresses: She rode sidesaddle in her wedding gown.
A sidesaddle is also the specially designed saddle for this riding style, with supports to secure the rider's legs.
