shoe soles
Where treads live
Shoe soles are the bottom surfaces of footwear—the part that contacts the ground.
Soles provide traction, cushioning, and protection from rough or hot surfaces.
They vary widely by material and purpose: thin leather soles on dress shoes, thick rubber soles on work boots, specialized treads on hiking boots or running shoes.
The soles of my sneakers are worn smooth.
