A shitcoin is a cryptocurrency with little or no value, often created as a joke, scam, or speculative gamble.
The term dismisses coins lacking legitimate utility or technological foundation: I lost money on some shitcoin that promised to revolutionize pet food delivery.
What counts as a shitcoin depends on who's talking—Bitcoin maximalists may consider everything else a shitcoin.
