sheepherders

Pastoral livestock managers

Sheepherders are people who tend sheep, guiding flocks to grazing areas and protecting them from predators.

The term is more common in American English, where it often describes workers in the open rangelands of the American West: Basque sheepherders settled throughout Nevada and Idaho.

The British equivalent is shepherd.
