scuttler

One who sinks

A scuttler is someone or something that scuttles—moves with quick, hurried steps, often low to the ground.

Crabs and beetles are natural scuttlers.

The word also applies to a person who scuttles a ship, deliberately sinking it by opening holes in the hull: The captain became the scuttler of his own vessel rather than let it be captured.
