scullion
Lowly pot scrubber
A scullion is the lowest-ranking kitchen servant, assigned menial tasks like washing dishes and scrubbing pots.
The word is archaic, surviving mainly in historical fiction and period drama: The scullion toiled in the steam and grease while lords feasted above.
It occasionally appears as a literary insult suggesting someone lowly or contemptible.
