screen tearing
Display refresh conflict
Screen tearing is a visual artifact in video displays where portions of two or more frames appear simultaneously, creating a horizontal line where the image seems to split or shift.
It occurs when the display's refresh rate falls out of sync with the graphics output: The screen tearing was so bad I had to enable V-sync.
Technologies like V-sync, G-sync, and FreeSync exist specifically to prevent it.
