saltgrass

Salt-tolerant prairie plant

Saltgrass is any of several grasses that tolerate salty or alkaline soils, growing in coastal marshes, desert flats, and other saline environments.

The most common North American species forms dense mats in wetlands and was traditionally used for hay in areas where other grasses won't grow: The saltgrass flats stretched toward the bay.
