triple axel
Three-rotation ice jump
A triple axel is a figure skating jump featuring three and a half rotations in the air.
The axel is the only jump launched while skating forward, making the extra half-rotation necessary for a backward landing.
The triple axel remains one of the most difficult jumps in competitive skating: She landed her first triple axel in competition.
