safaris

Guided savanna journeys

Safaris are expeditions to observe or hunt wild animals, especially in East Africa.

The word comes from Swahili for "journey." A safari typically involves guided travel through wildlife reserves: We went on safari in Kenya.

The term extends to any organized excursion with an exploratory feel: a photo safari, a shopping safari.

Safari also names Apple's web browser.
