Henry Stanley
Henry Stanley (1841–1904) was a Welsh-American journalist and explorer best known for locating the Scottish missionary David Livingstone in Africa in 1871, greeting him with the famous line Dr. Livingstone, I presume?
Stanley later explored the Congo River basin and helped establish colonial rule in Central Africa under King Leopold II of Belgium.
His expeditions were brutal toward African peoples, making his legacy deeply contested.
