running jump
Sprint before launching
A running jump is a jump preceded by a run to build momentum, as opposed to a standing jump from a stationary position.
The phrase appears most often in the British expression take a running jump, a dismissive way of telling someone to go away or stop bothering you—slightly softer than telling them to fuck off.
