roof pitch
Rooftop incline measurement
Roof pitch is the steepness of a roof, expressed as a ratio of vertical rise to horizontal run.
A 4:12 pitch rises four inches for every twelve inches of horizontal distance.
Steeper pitches shed water and snow more effectively but cost more to build.
The contractor recommended a 6:12 pitch for the snowy climate.
