ridge line
Peak's highest edge
A ridge line is the crest or highest continuous line along a mountain ridge, where slopes fall away on either side.
In topography and hiking, it marks the path of highest elevation between peaks or along a mountain's spine.
Military and tactical usage extends this to any elevated line of terrain offering strategic advantage or observation.
The term also appears in architecture for the top horizontal line where two sloping roof surfaces meet.
