roll over

Flip onto back

Roll over describes moving from one position to another by turning, usually while lying down: The dog rolled over on command, She rolled over in bed.

Extended uses involve shifting something to a new period or form—rolling over a debt extends its term, rolling over retirement funds transfers them to another account.

In finance, a rollover is such a transfer.

To roll over for someone is to yield without resistance: Congress just rolled over for the administration.
