rocker panel

Below the doors

A rocker panel is the section of a vehicle's body between the front and rear wheel wells, running along the bottom of the doors.

These panels form part of the car's structural frame and are prone to rust and collision damage: The mechanic found extensive corrosion in the rocker panels.

The name comes from their position beneath the rocker—the curved lower edge of the door opening.
