revenue bills
Income-raising laws
Revenue bills are proposed legislation that raises money for the government through taxes, tariffs, or other means.
In the United States, the Constitution requires that revenue bills originate in the House of Representatives rather than the Senate—a provision meant to keep taxing power closer to the people through their more directly elected representatives.
