restrictors

Devices that constrain

Restrictors are devices or mechanisms that limit flow, movement, or capacity.

An engine restrictor reduces airflow to limit horsepower in racing.

A water flow restrictor caps how much water passes through a showerhead.

The term applies broadly to anything designed to impose limits: Safety restrictors prevent the window from opening more than a few inches.
