Respawned is the past tense of respawn, a video game term for reappearing after being killed.
When a player's character dies, they typically respawn at a checkpoint or starting point to continue playing: I respawned right into enemy fire.
The term extends to anything that returns after apparent elimination: The bug respawned after we thought we'd fixed it.
