An rpg is a rocket-propelled grenade—a shoulder-fired weapon that launches an explosive projectile.
The term appears frequently in military and video game contexts: The soldiers took cover when they spotted the rpg.
In gaming communities, rpg also refers to role-playing games, though that sense is more commonly written in capitals. (Capitalized RPG is the standard form for both meanings.)
