resequencing

Putting things differently

Resequencing is rearranging something into a new order or sequence.

In genetics, it refers to determining the DNA sequence of an organism whose genome has already been mapped, typically to identify variations: resequencing revealed several mutations.

More broadly, resequencing applies to any reorganization of ordered elements: resequencing the production schedule, resequencing the playlist.
