read-throughs

Script rehearsal sessions

Read-throughs are complete start-to-finish readings of a script, manuscript, or other text.

In theater and film, a read-through is an early rehearsal where the cast sits together and reads the entire script aloud: The first read-through revealed some pacing problems in act two.

Writers also do read-throughs of their own work to catch errors or assess flow.
