Leather sharpening strip
A razor strop is a strip of leather or canvas used to sharpen and polish a straight razor's edge before shaving.
The blade is drawn repeatedly across the strop to realign its fine edge and remove microscopic burrs: He stropped the blade until it could split a hair.
Strops were common grooming items before safety razors displaced straight razors in the twentieth century.
