saddle leather
Horse seat material
Saddle leather is thick, vegetable-tanned leather originally used for saddles and horse tack.
The tanning process makes it exceptionally durable and gives it a distinctive firm texture that softens with use.
The term now applies broadly to similar heavy leather used for belts, bags, and other goods meant to age well: a wallet in saddle leather.
