ratchet strap
Tensioned cargo belt
A ratchet strap is a tie-down device used to secure cargo during transport.
It consists of a strong woven strap attached to a ratcheting mechanism that allows you to pull the strap tight and lock it in place: We used ratchet straps to secure the furniture in the truck bed.
The ratchet provides mechanical advantage, making it easy to create tension that would be difficult to achieve by hand.
