rads
Absorbed dose measures
Rads is the plural of rad, which has two distinct meanings.
As a unit of measurement, a rad quantifies absorbed radiation dose—largely replaced by the gray in scientific contexts but still used informally: The workers were exposed to several rads.
Separately, rad is 1980s slang for excellent or cool, short for radical: That skateboard trick was totally rad.
The slang use survives with retro charm.
