quick pass
Swift ball release
A quick pass in sports is a rapid, short throw to a nearby teammate, prioritizing speed over distance.
In American football, it's a passing play designed to release the ball before defenders can pressure the quarterback: The offense relied on quick passes to neutralize the pass rush.
The term extends to basketball and other team sports where swift ball movement matters.
