predeterminism

Causally sealed destiny

Predeterminism is the philosophical doctrine that all events, including human actions and choices, are determined in advance by prior causes extending back to the origin of the universe.

Unlike simple determinism, predeterminism emphasizes that the entire course of history was fixed from the beginning: If predeterminism is true, your reading this sentence was inevitable from the moment of the Big Bang.

The view raises difficult questions about moral responsibility and free will.
