Behind the neck
Nuchal means relating to the nape of the neck.
The term appears almost exclusively in medical and anatomical contexts: a nuchal cord wraps around a fetus's neck during delivery; a nuchal translucency scan measures fluid at the back of a fetus's neck to screen for chromosomal abnormalities.
