pollinizing

Enabling plant reproduction

Pollinizing is a less common variant of pollinating—transferring pollen from one flower to another to enable fertilization.

Bees, butterflies, and other insects do this naturally as they move between blossoms.

The word appears in older texts and some technical contexts: Wind assists in pollinizing corn crops.

Pollinating is now the standard form.
