pleasure garden

Landscaped leisure space

A pleasure garden is a landscaped outdoor space designed for recreation and entertainment rather than food production.

Historically, these were elaborate grounds with ornamental plantings, fountains, walkways, and sometimes pavilions for concerts or theatrical performances: The 18th-century pleasure gardens of London drew crowds for fireworks and music.

The term now applies to any garden meant primarily for aesthetic enjoyment.
