plaster cast

Hardened limb wrap

A plaster cast is a rigid mold made from plite of Paris, used either to immobilize a broken bone while it heals or to create a sculptural reproduction.

The medical sense wraps a limb in bandages soaked with plaster that hardens: She wore a plaster cast on her arm for six weeks.

In art, plaster casts reproduce sculptures or capture forms from life.
