Arbor Day
Annual planting occasion
Arbor Day is an annual observance encouraging the planting of trees.
First celebrated in Nebraska in 1872, it spread across the United States and to other countries.
The date varies by region, typically falling in spring when conditions favor planting: The schoolchildren planted saplings for Arbor Day.
