pitch shot
Short golf approach
A pitch shot in golf is a short approach shot that sends the ball high into the air so it lands softly on the green with minimal roll.
It's typically played from close range—within about 50 yards—using a wedge.
The pitch shot contrasts with a chip shot, which stays low and rolls more after landing.
