tee shot
Hole's first stroke
A tee shot is the first stroke on a golf hole, played from the tee box.
The term usually refers to drives on longer holes, where the goal is distance: She crushed her tee shot down the middle of the fairway.
A good tee shot sets up the rest of the hole; a bad one can mean trouble from the start.
