physiograph

Physiological data instrument

A physiograph is an instrument that records physiological functions—heart rate, respiration, blood pressure, muscle tension—by translating bodily signals into visible tracings on paper or a screen.

The term also appears in older geographic literature for a description or map of natural landforms.

The polygraph, or lie detector, is a type of physiograph.
