photorealist
Camera-like image maker
A photorealist is an artist who creates work so detailed and precise that it resembles a photograph.
The term emerged from the photorealism movement of the late 1960s and 1970s, when painters began reproducing photographs with painstaking accuracy: The photorealist spent months on a single canvas of a chrome bumper.
The word also describes anyone who pursues extreme visual fidelity in their medium.
