peroneal nerve
Fibular lateral nerve
The peroneal nerve runs along the outer side of the lower leg, branching from the sciatic nerve near the knee.
It controls muscles that lift the foot and provide sensation to the lower leg and top of the foot.
Damage to this nerve causes foot drop—inability to lift the front of the foot: The peroneal nerve was compressed where he'd crossed his legs.
