rootlet
Small anchoring fiber
A rootlet is a small root, especially one of the fine branching structures that extend from a plant's main root system.
These tiny roots do most of the work absorbing water and nutrients from soil.
The term also applies to small root-like structures in anatomy: nerve rootlets extending from the spinal cord.
