peace out

Laid-back departure phrase

Peace out is an informal goodbye, typically casual and friendly.

It emerged from hip-hop culture in the 1980s and 1990s, combining peace (as a parting word) with out (as in signing off).

The phrase can signal departure or end a conversation: Alright, I'm heading home—peace out.

Sometimes used playfully or ironically in formal contexts.
