ley

Temporary grazing land

A ley is a hypothetical straight line connecting ancient sites—stone circles, burial mounds, churches—believed by some to mark paths of mystical energy across the landscape.

The concept emerged in 1920s Britain and remains popular in New Age and occult circles: Stonehenge lies along several supposed ley lines.

Mainstream archaeology considers leys coincidental alignments rather than intentional constructions.
