paddocks

Small fenced pastures

Paddocks is the plural of paddock, a small enclosed field or area where horses are kept or exercised.

At racetracks, the paddock is where horses are saddled and paraded before a race: We watched the horses in the paddock before placing our bets.

In Australia and New Zealand, paddock refers more broadly to any fenced field or pasture on a farm.
