oyster mushrooms
Fan-shaped edible fungi
Oyster mushrooms are fan-shaped edible fungi that grow in overlapping clusters on dead or dying trees.
Named for their resemblance to oysters, they have a mild, slightly sweet flavor and tender texture.
Common in Asian cuisines, they're now widely cultivated: I sautéed oyster mushrooms with garlic and soy sauce.
