mixing up

Blending into disorder

Mixing up means confusing one thing for another: I'm always mixing up the twins.

It also means combining ingredients or elements: She was mixing up a batch of cookies.

To mix someone up is to confuse them: All these instructions are mixing me up.

A mix-up is the resulting confusion or error.
