oaky
Like aged chardonnay
Oaky describes the flavor or aroma imparted to wine or spirits by aging in oak barrels.
An oaky wine has notes of vanilla, spice, toast, or wood—characteristics absorbed from the barrel.
The term can be praise or criticism depending on balance: The chardonnay was pleasantly oaky versus Too oaky for my taste.
