newsstands
Periodical retail kiosks
Newsstands are small retail outlets selling newspapers, magazines, and often candy, cigarettes, or lottery tickets.
Traditionally found on sidewalks or in transit stations, they serve commuters and passersby seeking quick purchases: I grabbed a paper from the newsstand on my way to work.
The singular newsstand refers to any such kiosk or counter.
